Held twice a year on the first Sundays of May and October - The Love Feast is held to remember the last evening of Jesus' life with His desciples and the instructions He gave to us to follow.
Sharing in the Love Feast is important to our living out and understanding what it means to be Brethren, and more importantly, what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ! We look forward to seeing you there.
CONGREGATIONAL BUSINESS MEETING - May 17, 2020 @ 10:15 am
In the Church of the Brethren each Congregation meets on a regular basis in a congregational business meeting or church council to make major decisions on ministry work, as well as running the church affairs. Each congregation chooses its own pastor and moderator, selects its own board or leadership team, ministry groups, and commissions. It also elects delegates to the denomination's Annual Conference and the local District Conference. Its a real 'grass-roots' effort based on the belief that individuals, within each congregation, are uniquely led by God, and at the same time are dependent upon the gathered local community.
BAPTISM - (watch Church Calendar for next date)
Before making any serious commitment a person considers the meaning and consequences of that choice. For Brethren, the ordinance of “believers baptism” marks just such a deliberate, thoughtful commitment. Three hundred years ago, the first Brethren chose adult baptism as their ceremonial response to God’s saving act—the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Today, in the presence of the congregation, a newly committed person kneels in the waters of baptism, publicly acknowledges his or her decision, and is immersed three times forward, “in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”
Through this symbolic cleansing and rebirth, the person becomes a full member of the Brethren congregation and of the larger body of Christ. The decision to be baptized indicates a willingness to take on both the joy and the responsibility of living Jesus’ teachings.
